Common Questions about Coaching and Therapy Website Design

How much do you charge for a website?

Prices start from 1000 for a 5-page website – ranging to 2000 euros for all the bells and whistles. For that, you’re getting a premium theme, my marketing knowledge, design and development skills and my experience as a therapist and coach myself. The price really depends on the solution you need. You get direct access to me, rather than having to deal with a big impersonal agency.

Do I even need a website?

Not necessarily. If you have plenty of word-of-mouth referrals, and a waitlist and can’t take on any more clients, then you might not need a website. Just know that people will often expect you to have a website and may choose to do online research before getting in touch to get a sense of you and if you’re a fit. If you want to get more enquiries or make it easy for potential clients to get in touch with you, I highly recommend having a website.

Why are you so expensive, can’t I just build a site for free?

Yes, you can absolutely DIY a website for “free” – but do you have the technical, design and marketing expertise to make this worthwhile?

A good website is one that stands out from the competition – easy to navigate, with a clear customer journey and copy that makes a compelling case for why you are the coach or therapist for them.

What happens when disaster hits? Will you be able to get in touch with them if they are doing this as a side hustle? If they’re doing this on the side, what’s stopping them from ghosting you if work gets demanding? How many websites have they built and how well are they working?

What content will you need from me?

The specifics depend on your coaching or therapy practice. During our discovery call, I’ll ask questions to elicit the detail I need about your business.

Typically I’ll need –

  • Horizontal, high-quality photos of you
  • Content for the website
  • Login & hosting details if you are upgrading an existing website

Can I update the website myself once it’s been built?

Yes. You’ll be able to make simple edits, such as adding images, editing text, etc. yourself. I build sites using WordPress as it’s easy for clients to amend their websites themselves.

I want to start/grow an email list, can you help with this?

Yes, I highly recommend MailerLite as it’s an excellent email service provider allowing you to easily deliver a freebie with automation. Depending on the size of your current email list, you may be charged an additional fee by these third parties.

Will you write the text for me?

I’m happy to write the content (copy) for your website, depending on the package you choose. I have studied copywriting and SEO and I understand that many clients really struggle with capturing the essence of what they do in writing.

As a therapist and coach myself, I know that you don’t want to sound overly salesy. If you choose to purchase the add-on copywriting package, I will conduct a series of interviews with you to ensure that we create strategic content for your website.

How long does it take to build a website?

Creating a website from scratch typically takes 8-10 weeks. Once I receive your deposit, I add you to my premium client portal where you can upload your content – copy, images, logos, hex codes, etc. The length of time it takes to build the website is heavily dependent on you providing all content in a timely manner.

What platform will be used for my website?

WordPress, the powerhouse of the web – trusted by the majority of business owners. If you’re serious about your coaching business, you need a website platform that is geared for business owners. Wix, Weebly, Squarespace, etc. are great options for hobby businesses, but you’ll quickly find they have their limitations when it comes to ranking online.

WordPress is search-engine friendly and easily integrates with other tools you may need, now or in the future, such as email service providers.

How do you communicate throughout the website build?

Before I begin work on your website, typically we’ll have an initial complimentary call on the phone or on Zoom to discuss your needs. Then I’ll issue a quote and once you agree and pay your deposit, most of our communication will happen via email (I reply within 24 hours during business hours Monday to Friday).

You’ll also receive updates on your premium client portal. We may need the occasional Zoom call depending on the specifics of your project.

Once the build is live, we’ll have a Zoom call together to train you on digital marketing and basic website maintenance.
